Serving Lexington since 2007, Lexington Reflexology has grown to the point where Patti DelVecchio, Certified Reflexologist, and Certified Aromatherapist, is celebrating the second anniversary since opening her convenient downtown location on Nelson Street across from the State Movie Theater.  Since completing her training in 2006 and beginning her career in the healing arts, Patti has enjoyed rapid success, primarily through word of mouth.  While earning her certification, her very first practicum volunteer excitedly reported she had the first good night's sleep in months after just one reflexology session with Patti, and she was hooked!!  Her avid interest in learning and sharing the applications and techniques of reflexology and other healing modalities continues to grow.

only the feet are involved, only the shoes and socks are removed.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a healing modality that promotes health and well-being, and enhances all other types of therapies.  
It works in a similar way as acupressure.  There are points which are referred to "reflex points" on the feet (all the points are also located in the hands, ears and scalp) that correspond to literally every body part, organ and system in the body via nerves and energetic pathways.

The goal of reflexology is to assist the body in achieving balance and healing.  Positive results can include improvement in the digestive, reproductive, respiratory, lymphatic, immune and endocrine systems as well as easing pain and symptomologies associated with chronic conditions and allergies.  Reflexology supports your innate ability to correct and heal yourself and is a gentle, noninvasive procedure that encourages total body balance.

Did you know there are approximately 7,500 nerve endings in the feet?  Stimulation of these nerve endings and reflex points helps to open up the natural pathways your body uses to nourish and heal itself.  Tender points indicate congestion in the corresponding area of the body.  Many people are surprised when the tender points in their feet reveal issues they forgot to mention in the intake process!

Skilled pressure to the reflexes helps relieve congestion to all parts of the body via a network of physical and biomagnetic pathways which pass from the feet up through the body. Through gentle stimulation of the reflex points using only the practitioners fingers and hands, positive outcomes such as stress relief, improved energy, and specific and overall health improvement can occur.

This, in conjunction with deep relaxation induced by a reflexology session, enables the body to achieve balance, improve the circulatory systems, access its own innate healing ability and improve its functioning on every level--physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Centuries of the 
Healing Touch

Reflexology has been used as a favored therapy around the world for thousands of years.  Archeological evidence points to such ancient medical practices in Egypt and China some 4,500 years ago, and even now, archeologists are finding evidence of the practice in Mayan pyramids.  The most concrete evidence of the practice of reflexology in ancient culture was the discovery of the above wall painting depicting the practice of hand and foot reflexology in the tomb of Ankhmahor (highest official after the Pharaoh) at Saqqara, which is also known as the physicians tomb. This Egyptian wall painting is dated at the 6th dynasty, about 2330 B.C.
One of the earliest books to be written on reflexology was published in 1582 by two eminent European physicians, Dr. Adamus and Dr. A'tatis.  A second book by a Dr. Bell was published shortly after this in Leipzig.
